Wrapping Than Wearing

Having lots of options of clothings provides a huge potential of opportunities for people to express themselves  by fashion from deciding many options with many pieces of clothing, jewelries, accessory etc. but sometimes it could be the most intense thing to do while you are not feeling it or it could be to most fast fashion stuff (unless you are not thrifting).

By sustainable fashion becoming a key point for the industry, modular clothing started affecting the designers to think about it. Stella Mccartney’s collection that launched a few years ago may refer to one piece clothing which turns one piece from bikinis or sport bras to stylish day or night wear or Coperni’s and Courreges pieces that could be used for jacket or bag or changeless sleeves etc.

Besides environmental concerns and sensibility, having one literal comfort-zone piece has always been a good friend that hangs in only one hang in our wardrobes. Those pieces are waiting for your laziest, vulnerable, delicate and exhausted times. When that time comes, that one piece slowly steps out from your wardrobe, linking an eye on you and making you smile and relieved and peaceful. It is a practical and easiest idea to pick from your wardrobe. It is the idea of going around; take, wear and go. Or sleep. Or watch Netflix. Without thinking too much about layers, details, colors or proportions. What if that piece could turn into everything? Every piece of clothing. One line that turns into everything you need; from top to pants, necklace, shorts or long sleeves.

I’m talking about literally one piece without any zippers, buttons, pieces or stitches like a mummy. Call it ‘freestyle mummy fashion’!

It could be much easier to wrap ourselves in different styles with the same piece everyday, go out and show our expressions to the world! Then wrapping tutorials, popular knotting styles would come up in our feeds! Sounds interesting and thinking of it was fun, however imagining living it for a while got me down already.

Maybe it would suit perfectly in an utopian world or maybe in a conceptual film but I rather live in the ‘Layered clothes with unique pieces world’ and leave sustainability to other industries.
